Stories from a Teacher’s Helper: Twenty-two Years as an ‘Educationalist’ in One of the World’s Premier Veterinary Colleges
December 10 @ 2:10 pm - 3:00 pm
Shortly after arriving as a new lecturer at the ISU College of Veterinary Medicine, Jared Danielson received a flyer in his Inbox describing how to remove the brain from a horse — highlighting the reality that he was no longer in his “home” disciplines of the humanities and social sciences. For the next 22 years, he has worked with veterinary educators as they have improved classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction, created assessment plans and processes, created and evaluated educational software, and produced scholarship in veterinary medical education. Along the way he has taught graduate courses, partnered with other faculty to solve perplexing problems, and thoroughly enjoyed working with the remarkably intelligent, talented, and humble faculty of the veterinary college. In this presentation he will share a few of his most memorable experiences, highlighting how they illustrate fundamental universal principles that are key to promoting teaching and learning.
