New ISU Undergraduate Syllabus Templates Required Beginning Fall 2026

Beginning Fall 2026, two new syllabus templates will be required for all Iowa State University undergraduate courses. Both templates, including instructions and tips for completion, are available on the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost website.

The ISU Syllabus Template includes the required syllabus statements and supports more consistent, transparent, and student-centered course information. As a result, the ISU Syllabus Statements page will be sunsetted, and the separate statements links will be removed from the ISU Course Shell in Canvas, previously the ISU Course Template. Instructors will need to make their completed ISU Syllabus Template available to students in Canvas by the first day of class, follow the instructions in the Canvas – Start of the Semester Guide.
