Large Enrollment Community of Practice

CELT’s communities of practice are topic-based cross-disciplinary groups of faculty who meet to discuss topics related to teaching and learning. Communities of Practice are designed to provide a space for meaningful conversations about teaching and learning with the facilitation of CELT staff (some communities also have faculty co-facilitators).

The Large Enrollment Community of Practice is for instructors of courses with sections that enroll 100+ students. The purpose of this community is to:

  • Support instructors who are teaching large enrollment courses.
  • Build community and connection across disciplines.
  • Connect instructors to resources and solutions.

 

March Focus: Media Production/EIT 

Hear from the CELT Media Production team about best practices for video production and other tech integration considerations. The remainder of the session will provide participants with the opportunity to discuss their teaching, brainstorm ideas, and share feedback.

The purpose of this learning community is to build connections across disciplines, to share strategies for more effectively teaching large enrollment courses, and to connect instructors with resources. 

 

Large Enrollment Learning Community meetings will occur monthly on Fridays at 2:00pm.

April will focus on the Testing Center.

As a new program this year, the Large Enrollment Learning Community is open to anyone who teaches a large enrollment course at Iowa State. In conjunction with the development of a Teaching Toolkit and through community, instructors will build connection across disciplines and share solutions for teaching large enrollment courses.  


Large Enrollment Learning Community meetings will occur monthly on the first Friday at 1:00pm.

Focus for September will be on understanding large course characteristics.
