The Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) proudly hosts the annual CELT Teaching Symposium, a vibrant gathering of new faculty members to Iowa State that provides thought-provoking discussions, spirited dialogues, and one-on-one technology assistance. This symposium is a testament to our unwavering commitment to nurturing dynamic teaching practices and fostering student success at Iowa State University.
The symposium is for faculty and staff with a teaching role. Serving as an orientation to teaching at Iowa State for new faculty, the symposium is also open to those who are looking for a refresher. Individual invitations will be sent out via email in early August.
Symposium Highlights
- In the opening plenary, make connections with colleagues, hear how CELT supports you as a teacher, and explore how strategies of active learning and strategies rooted in the science of how students learn can make you a more effective instructor.
- Concurrent sessions allow participants to pursue topics related to AI in teaching and learning, the relationship of assessment and alignment, a crash-course in backward course design.
- An introduction to Canvas LMS will lead into one-on-one consultations with CELT instructional designers to get your Canvas course up and running for the first day of classes.
Laptops highly encouraged – come ready to participate!
